Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in a bakery or food production environment preferred
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including holidays and weekends
  • strong attention to detail
  • good physical stamina for standing and lifting
  • ability to follow health and safety regulations
  • excellent customer service skills

Job Duties

  • Immediately greets all customers and ensures customer satisfaction
  • apply glazes, icings, or other toppings to baked goods, using spatulas or brushes
  • decorating cakes and bakery items according to recipes and special customer requests
  • measure and weigh ingredients to prepare batters, dough, fillings, and icings, using scales and graduated containers, adjusting quantity of ingredients to match the amount of items to be baked
  • combine measured ingredients in bowls of mixing, blending, or cooking machinery
  • roll, knead, cut, and shape dough to form sweet rolls, pie crusts, tarts, cookies, and other products
  • place dough in pans, molds, or on sheets, and bake in production ovens or on grills
  • set oven temperatures and place items into hot ovens for baking
  • observe color of products being baked, and adjust oven temperatures, humidity, and cooking times accordingly
  • order products and check quality of materials to ensure that standards and specifications are met
  • maintain proper inventory of finished piece goods
  • check equipment to ensure that it meets health and safety regulations and perform maintenance and cleaning
  • complete specials projects and other duties as assigned
