Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent certification
- Must possess and maintain a valid California noncommercial Class C Driver’s License
- Background check and Live Scan background check required prior to employment
- Candidate must be 18 years or older
- Pre-placement physical examination required
- Must maintain a satisfactory driving record under California DMV Pull Notice System
- Successful completion of a backlifting examination
- Ability to work varied hours including nights and weekends
- Capacity to stand continuously for an entire shift on uncarpeted surfaces
Job Qualifications
- 3-5 years demonstrated experience in a high-volume bakery
- Previous experience managing a high-volume bakery operation
- Advanced knowledge of food preparation techniques including baking, cake and pastry decoration
- Ability to lead teams to produce bakery products according to production and sanitation standards
- Experience developing and testing bakery recipes
- Detailed bakery knowledge of inventory, recipes, menus, equipment, and production methods
- Skilled in organizing and monitoring assignments to meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with diverse personnel
- Ability to control food and nonfood costs
- Capability to schedule team members effectively
- Proficient in maintaining accurate production records
- Experienced in training staff on safe equipment use
- Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts
Job Duties
- Provide team leadership to bakery staff including Principal Bakers, Senior Bakers, Bakers, Assistant Bakers, Senior Food Service Workers and Food Service Workers
- Manage daily bakery operations including scheduling employees and production
- Order food and nonfood products while maintaining inventory and food cost controls
- Develop, assist in testing, and prepare new and complex bakery recipes according to culinary and quality standards
- Train and monitor staff in the safe and correct use of bakery equipment
- Adhere to food handling and sanitation guidelines
- Maintain accurate paperwork including temperature logs and production records
- Ensure production meets established timelines and quality standards
- Motivate and monitor work performance to meet bakery production goals
