The employment opportunity at Sprouts Farmers Market is for a full-time Bakery Manager. This position is designed for individuals passionate about bakery arts, specifically in preparing and baking cookies, bread, muffins, and other bakery items using tested ingredients and recipes. The Bakery Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and performance of the bakery department to ensure high standards of product quality, customer service, and operational efficiency. This role requires leadership, organization, and a deep understanding of bakery production processes. The Bakery Manager will manage products' output, supervise staff, maintain quality consistency, track inventory, and control budgets. In addition to managing day-to-day bakery functions, the manager will evaluate department conditions and implement improved operational practices. They will ensure compliance with company standards, including safety, sanitation, food handling, and productivity.
In this role, the Bakery Manager is responsible for ordering, receiving, and storing bakery supplies correctly while managing merchandise rotation and display to maximize sales and maintain presentation standards. They oversee inventory management, pricing integrity, merchandising, and labor to meet Sprouts’ operational goals. Additional responsibilities include creating and adjusting schedules to maximize productivity and communicating company policies, standards, and product knowledge to staff. They may also serve as a Key Carrier for the store or act as a Manager on Duty when required. This position offers a pay range of $19.50 to $29.15 per hour, with pay determined by applicable experience and qualifications. Job Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age
- minimum of 2 years retail grocery experience
- dependable and reliable
- ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- good communication skills

- be able to answer phones and take special orders
- perform general housekeeping, clean and sanitize work area
- operate bakery equipment and use scales accurately
- able to stand for up to 3 hours continuously for a total of 8 hours per shift
- physically able to transfer trays and items weighing up to 40 lbs
- adhere to all safety, health, and weights and measures regulations
- maintain Food Handlers permit
- possess knowledge of personnel and financial reports
Job Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years of age
- have a minimum of 2 years' retail grocery experience
- demonstrate good communication skills and ability to give and take direction in a team environment
- show outgoing and friendly behavior with a positive attitude towards team members and customers
- operate bakery equipment including knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
- possess knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures
- have the ability to stand for extended periods and handle physical tasks such as lifting up to 40 lbs
- possess working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals
Job Duties
- Manage the daily output baking, production, and display of bakery products
- supervise and monitor product quality and consistency, track inventory, and manage the bakery's budget
- evaluate department conditions and operations to determine strengths and areas for improvement
- develop improved practices and procedures
- ensure company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation, and productivity are maintained
- responsible for correct ordering, receiving, unloading, and storage
- execute rotation of merchandise and building of displays
- manage department inventory, in-stocks, pricing integrity, merchandising, labor, and other operational processes to Sprouts standards
- plan and order according to company standards to maximize sales and gross profit
- engage and evaluate team members through coaching, feedback, and one-on-one development discussions
- make recommendations on merit increases via bi-annual performance review process
- regularly attend and participate at in-store meetings
- recruit, hire and make promotion or transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager
- exercise independent judgment to address Team Member concerns
- take and document corrective actions when needed, including coaching, counseling, progressive discipline, suspension, or termination
- ensure maximum productivity and efficiency by creating and adjusting schedules and staffing levels
- communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members
- lead a team that delivers high-quality product and service
- serve as a Key Carrier and/or Manager on Duty as needed
