Reporting directly to the Store Director and Bakery Supervisor, the Bakery Manager holds non-exempt status and is responsible for the overall direction, leadership, merchandising, and production within the department. This position demands attention to detail in inventory control, product freshness, and maintaining compliance with company policies and health regulations.

The Bakery Manager will oversee the ordering process to maintain proper inventory levels, enforce product rotation policies, and participate in shrink control to minimize losses. Effective scheduling and supervision of department employees are essential to ensure smooth operations throughout the day. The manager will also maintain and submit the necessary records, monitor product quality carefully, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to weights, measures, and health department standards.

In addition, the Bakery Manager is tasked with overseeing the baking and general production, providing training to new employees, and promoting courteous customer service by greeting customers promptly. A strong focus on labor cost control, sales distribution, and budget maintenance is required to meet financial goals. The candidate must be skilled in cake decorating and willing to assist with supplementary tasks such as merchandise unloading, inventory monitoring, and maintaining cleanliness in the bakery area.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in bakery or retail management preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Strong math skills for inventory and sales tracking
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends
  • Dexterity for bagging and packaging bakery products
  • Compliance with all company policies and government regulations

Job Duties

  • Responsible for following merchandising plans for the department
  • Responsible for ordering to maintain inventory control and ensure freshness and product quality
  • Responsible to order and maintain asset control of commercial bread while ensuring freshness and product quality
  • Enforce and follow all policies regarding receiving, dating, and restocking to ensure product rotation
  • Participate in shrink control
  • Effectively schedule and supervise department employees
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with company policies related to safety and sanitation
