Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions
  • Ability to do simple addition and subtraction
  • Ability to follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
  • Ability to perform medium physical work including exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Visual acuity for clarity of vision at distances between 20 inches and 20 feet, with or without correction
  • Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions
  • Willingness to adhere to company dress and personal hygiene standards
  • Availability to report to work on schedule and maintain punctuality

Job Qualifications

  • Less than high school education or equivalent experience
  • Six months or less of similar or related work experience
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
  • Ability to do simple addition and subtraction
  • Ability to write identifying information
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Basic knowledge of sanitation and food safety procedures

Job Duties

  • Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
  • Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store
  • Makes an effort to learn customers' names and to address them by name whenever possible
  • Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing products out of reach, loading or unloading heavy items, passing along customer suggestions or requests
  • Reviews the status and appearance of food for freshness
  • Reviews orders for the day
  • Takes customer orders at the bakery counter
  • Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
  • Understands and practices proper sanitation procedures and ensures work area is always clean and neat
  • Ensures an adequate supply of food is ready and on hand and follows a production list
  • Anticipates product needs on a daily basis
  • Prepares, finishes, and replenishes products as necessary
  • Pulls product from cooler/freezer to prepare for baking
  • Checks in product, puts product away, and may review invoices
  • Runs the department registers and receives payment, makes change, where applicable
  • Removes trash in a timely manner
  • Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress
  • Adheres to company policies and store guidelines
  • Reports to work when scheduled and on time
