Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions
- Ability to do simple addition and subtraction
- Ability to follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
- Ability to perform medium physical work including exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Visual acuity for clarity of vision at distances between 20 inches and 20 feet, with or without correction
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions
- Willingness to adhere to company dress and personal hygiene standards
- Availability to report to work on schedule and maintain punctuality
Job Qualifications
- Less than high school education or equivalent experience
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience
- Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
- Ability to do simple addition and subtraction
- Ability to write identifying information
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Basic knowledge of sanitation and food safety procedures
Job Duties
- Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
- Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store
- Makes an effort to learn customers' names and to address them by name whenever possible
- Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing products out of reach, loading or unloading heavy items, passing along customer suggestions or requests
- Reviews the status and appearance of food for freshness
- Reviews orders for the day
- Takes customer orders at the bakery counter
- Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
- Understands and practices proper sanitation procedures and ensures work area is always clean and neat
- Ensures an adequate supply of food is ready and on hand and follows a production list
- Anticipates product needs on a daily basis
- Prepares, finishes, and replenishes products as necessary
- Pulls product from cooler/freezer to prepare for baking
- Checks in product, puts product away, and may review invoices
- Runs the department registers and receives payment, makes change, where applicable
- Removes trash in a timely manner
- Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress
- Adheres to company policies and store guidelines
- Reports to work when scheduled and on time
