The Bakery Associate role at WinCo Foods is crucial in supporting the company’s mission to deliver fresh, delicious bakery goods to customers every day. This position involves scaling, mixing, and baking a variety of bakery products, ensuring that inventory levels are adequately maintained, and that the bakery department is kept to high cleanliness and presentation standards. The role typically involves working shifts lasting between 6 to 8 hours within a wide time frame from 3:00 am to 10:00 pm, providing flexibility but also requiring dedication to early and late shifts as well as weekends and holidays.

As a Bakery Associate, you will be responsible for producing breads, rolls, croissants, cakes, and other bakery items while following recipes precisely and maintaining consistent quality. The role demands strong attention to detail, from packaging and labeling products correctly to operating and cleaning bakery equipment such as ovens, proof boxes, mixers, and sheeters. Additionally, associates will engage in direct customer service, welcoming and assisting customers, taking orders for special bakery items, and personalizing cakes with written messages or decorations.

This position also involves maintaining an attractive display of bakery goods using first-in-first-out (FIFO) rotation to ensure freshness while managing inventory accurately by logging production quantities and temperature readings. Safety and sanitation are paramount in this role, requiring adherence to strict procedures and company policies to create a clean, safe, and welcoming bakery environment. The Bakery Associate must be prepared to handle physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds and pushing or pulling racks of products weighing approximately 100 pounds, making physical stamina and manual dexterity essential qualities.
