Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation including night, weekends and holidays
- ability to push and pull approximately 100 lb. of product on rack
- lift objects up to 50 lbs
- conduct visual inspections and follow production guides and safety procedures
- maintain composure in dealing with customers and co-workers
- reach overhead to place product on racks
- stand, walk and move rapidly for extended periods
- bend, stoop, balance, crouch, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, perform repetitive movements, and reach frequently
- handle bakery ingredients safely
- perform basic math calculations
- respond to audible timers on baking equipment
- perform duties with mental alertness concerning baking hazards
- follow safety and sanitation procedures
- wear required personal protective equipment
- check labels and packaging of manufactured products
- communicate effectively with customers
- work in a team-oriented environment
- operate kitchen utensils with manual dexterity
- demonstrate knowledge of product content and government regulations
- obtain Food Handlers Certification per state laws
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- previous bakery or food preparation experience preferred
- ability to operate baking equipment and machinery
- knowledge of bakery product content and perishability
- understanding of safety, sanitation procedures, and department policies
- strong customer service skills
- ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- ability to work well in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- familiarity with bakery labeling and packaging procedures
- basic math skills to compute weights and measures
- ability to follow recipes and production guides accurately
Job Duties
- Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers
- maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service with an emphasis on taking care of the customer
- produce bakery products for retail stores
- operate and clean equipment and work area
- package all fresh products following all packaging/handling procedures
- ensure quality of goods by following code
- mix icing or other toppings by scaling and measuring ingredients, operating a mixer, reading the recipe
- dump icing or other toppings into large storage containers
- set-up cakes by taking liner off, putting icing between layers of numerous items
- ice cakes by combining icing onto the cake, bordering, placing specific decorations
- package cakes by placing in box
- label bakery items by inputting data into DiGi machine, placing a label on container
- display products on shelves by placing them in an appealing manner and using FIFO for rotation
- take orders by phone and in person from customers
- personalize cakes by writing the desired words of the customer
- face merchandise
- maintain enthusiastic customer awareness with emphasis on fast, friendly customer service
- engage in suggestive selling and sales techniques in person, over the phone and intercom
- display goods following packaging/handling procedures
- assist customers with inquiries
- ensure quality of goods by following code dating procedures and legal labeling regulations
- ensure quantity of goods by keeping manager informed of stock levels
- produce breads/rolls by mixing recipes, setting up racks and pans, operating machines
- clean work area using pressure hose, floor brush, squeegee
- produce croissants by folding, proofing and baking
- open and close bakery according to company procedures
- perform other duties as assigned or needed
