Job Requirements

  • Ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation including night, weekends and holidays
  • pushing and pulling approximately 100 lb of product on racks
  • lift objects chest high up to 50 lbs
  • conduct visual inspections, read and follow production guides, recipes and labels
  • catch breads and operate kitchen utensils with dexterity and coordination
  • maintain composure with customers and coworkers
  • reach overhead to place products on racks
  • stand, walk and move rapidly for extended periods
  • bend, stoop, balance, crouch, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, perform repetitive movements and reach frequently
  • handle bakery ingredients
  • perform basic math operations and compute weights and measures
  • perform duties with mental alertness regarding hazards
  • respond to audible timers
  • work safely around equipment and products emitting heat
  • follow safety and sanitation procedures and department policies
  • wear personal protective equipment
  • check labels and packaging of products
  • communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • work collaboratively in a team
  • operate kitchen utensils and equipment with speed and accuracy
  • demonstrate knowledge of product content, perishability, safety and sanitation policies
  • must be 18 years or older
  • food handlers certification per state laws

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • experience in bakery or food production is a plus
  • ability to operate bakery machinery
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • strong customer service skills
  • ability to follow recipes and production guidelines
  • capable of manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • basic math skills
  • teamwork and communication skills
  • willingness to work flexible shifts including early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays
  • food handlers certification per state laws

Job Duties

  • Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers
  • produce bakery products for retail stores
  • operate and clean equipment and work area
  • maintain clean, safe and sanitary bakery area and equipment
  • package all fresh products following all packaging and handling procedures
  • ensure quality of goods by following code
  • mix icing or other toppings by scaling and measuring ingredients, operating a mixer, reading the recipe
  • dump icing or other toppings into large storage containers
  • set-up cakes by taking liner off, putting icing between layers of items
  • ice cakes including bordering and decorations
  • package cakes by placing in box
  • label bakery items by inputting data into DIGI machine and placing labels
  • display products on shelves in appealing manner using FIFO for rotation
  • take orders by phone and in person including special orders
  • personalize cakes by writing customer desired words
  • face merchandise
  • maintain customer service awareness
  • engage in suggestive selling and sales techniques
  • display goods following packaging and handling procedures and company guidelines
  • assist customers with inquiries about special orders, pricing, ingredients and product availability
  • ensure quality by following code dating and legal regulations
  • keep manager informed of stock levels, complete inventory and production sheets
  • produce breads and rolls by mixing, setting up racks and pans, operating machines, lifting product, measuring ingredients, and operating oven and proof box
  • clean work area including pressure hose and utensils
  • produce croissants by folding, proofing and baking
  • open and close bakery according to procedures
  • perform other duties as assigned or needed
