Job Requirements

  • Ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Capability to push and pull approximately 100 lbs on racks
  • Ability to lift, mix, and handle up to 50 lbs
  • Conduct visual inspections and maintain accurate production logs
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Maintain composure in customer and coworker interactions
  • Ability to reach overhead and move rapidly for extended periods
  • Ability to bend, stoop, balance, crouch, push, pull, lift, grasp, and perform repetitive movements frequently
  • Handle bakery ingredients safely
  • Perform basic math calculations
  • Demonstrate mental alertness in hazardous baking environments
  • Respond to audible timers on equipment
  • Work around equipment emitting high heat (approximately 465 degrees)
  • Follow safety and sanitation procedures
  • Use cleaning chemicals and handle food products properly
  • Perform duties efficiently and accurately
  • Manage time to meet deadlines and multitask
  • Wear necessary personal protective equipment
  • Check labels and packaging
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Operate kitchen utensils and equipment with speed and accuracy
  • Knowledge of product perishability and legal regulations
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Obtain Food Handlers Certification per state laws

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous bakery or food production experience preferred
  • Ability to follow recipes and production guides accurately
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to operate bakery equipment safely
  • Basic math skills
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling regulations
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Food Handlers Certification required or willingness to obtain

Job Duties

  • Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers
  • Maintain a friendly, enthusiastic customer service atmosphere
  • Produce bakery products for retail stores
  • Operate and clean equipment and work area
  • Package all fresh products following packaging and handling procedures
  • Ensure quality of goods by following code
  • Mix icing or other toppings by scaling and measuring ingredients
  • Dump icing or other toppings into large storage containers
  • Set-up cakes by assembling layers and adding icing
  • Ice cakes and decorate using various techniques
  • Package cakes by placing in boxes
  • Label bakery items by inputting data into DiGi machine
  • Display products on shelves using FIFO rotation
  • Take orders from customers in person or by phone
  • Personalize cakes by writing requested words
  • Face merchandise
  • Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
  • Display goods following packaging and handling procedures
  • Assist customers with inquiries on pricing, ingredients and availability
  • Ensure quality of goods by following code dating and legal regulations
  • Monitor inventory levels and complete production sheets
  • Produce breads and rolls by following recipes and operating machinery
  • Clean work area using designated tools
  • Produce croissants by folding, proofing and baking
  • Open and close bakery according to procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed
