The Bakery Associate role at BGC involves packaging, labeling, and pricing bakery products while maintaining optimal stock levels and product quality. This position demands attention to detail, adherence to safety and quality standards, and excellent customer service skills. The Bakery Associate works collaboratively with bakery personnel to prepare and display products, promote sales through suggestive selling initiatives, and keep the workspace both clean and safe. Essential to the role is the ability to operate bakery equipment safely and efficiently, maintain food safety standards, and communicate effectively with customers and team members.

Ideal candidates should be at least 18 years old, possess a Food Handler certification, and be willing to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays. This role typically involves on-the-job training and requires physical stamina to perform duties such as standing for extended periods, lifting moderate weights, and maneuvering bakery goods. Exposure to various environmental conditions such as heat, cold, and slippery surfaces is common, making safety awareness a priority. Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years of age required
  • Food handler certification required
  • Ability to read and operate digital equipment, meters, dials, and/or calibrated scales
  • Ability to safely operate hazardous tools and equipment such as a bread slicer, commercial oven, etc
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near the hazard
  • Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor
  • Attendance at work is required

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 18 years of age required
  • Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy
  • Food Handler certification required
  • Typically involves on-the-job training

Job Duties

  • Adheres to quality control and food safety standards by stocking and rotating baked goods
  • Assists bakery personnel with preparing, packaging, labeling, and maintaining product displays
  • Promotes product sales through use of suggestive selling initiatives
  • Stacks pallets and sorts product into correct locations according to Company efficiency standards and expectations
  • Maintains clean, safe and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to Company safety procedures
  • Provides friendly and customer-service-oriented attitude by greeting customers, answering questions and taking orders by phone and in person
