The Bakery Associate role at BGC is critical to maintaining product quality and enhancing customer satisfaction in the bakery department. This position involves packaging, labeling, pricing, and ensuring bakery products meet quality standards through regular monitoring of appearance, stock rotation, and storage conditions. The bakery associate supports other bakery personnel in product preparation and display while actively engaging customers through friendly service and suggestive selling techniques. Maintaining safety and sanitation standards in the work and shopping environment is a key responsibility, reflecting BGC's commitment to quality and food safety. Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years of age required
  • Food handler certification required
  • Ability to safely operate hazardous tools and equipment
  • Ability to use precision and non-precision hand tools
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers and partners
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must be attentive to potential hazards and address or report them promptly
  • Attendance at work is required

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 18 years of age required
  • Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy
  • Food Handler certification required
  • Ability to read and operate digital equipment, meters, dials, and/or calibrated scales
  • Ability to safely operate hazardous tools and equipment such as a bread slicer, commercial oven, etc.
  • Ability to work well with fellow partners and promote a team environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers and partners in written and verbal form
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Adheres to quality control and food safety standards by stocking and rotating baked goods
  • Assists bakery personnel with preparing, packaging, labeling, and maintaining product displays
  • Promotes product sales through use of suggestive selling initiatives
  • Stacks pallets and sorts product into correct locations according to company efficiency standards and expectations
  • Maintains clean, safe and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to company safety procedures
  • Provides friendly and customer-service-oriented attitude by greeting customers, answering questions and taking orders by phone and in person
