Job Description

Brookshire Grocery Company (BGC) is a well-established and respected grocery retail company headquartered in Tyler, Texas. With a rich legacy and deep community roots, BGC operates over 215 stores under five unique banners: Brookshire's Grocery Company, Super 1 Foods, Spring Market, Fresh by Brookshire's, and Reasor's. These stores serve communities across Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, making BGC a notable regional player in the grocery industry. The company prides itself not only on delivering quality products but also on fostering a workplace environment where employees—referred to as partners—can thrive personally and professionally. BGC emphasizes a culture of support, growth, and community engagement, continually investing in its partners through comprehensive benefits, wellness programs, educational support, and recreational opportunities.

At Brookshire Grocery Company, employees are valued for their contributions and given opportunities to advance their careers regardless of whether they're just starting out or looking to elevate their current role. The company offers a workplace that respects individual needs, promotes wellness, provides ownership opportunities through 401(k) contributions, and encourages a balanced lifestyle with paid time off and exclusive employee discounts. Beyond the workplace, BGC offers unique benefits such as access to a 205-acre outdoor recreation area, highlighting its commitment to partner well-being beyond the traditional office or store setting.

The Bakery Associate role at BGC is fundamental to maintaining high standards of product quality and customer satisfaction within the bakery department. This position entails packaging, labeling, and pricing bakery products to ensure they meet the company’s quality control and food safety standards. The associate plays a critical role in maintaining stock levels and organizing displays to promote product sales effectively, supporting both bakery personnel and the broader store operations. The role requires close attention to detail, from monitoring product freshness to adhering to safety and sanitation guidelines, all while providing excellent customer service through friendly interaction and knowledgeable assistance.

This position demands the ability to operate specific bakery equipment safely, including bread slicers and commercial ovens, as well as skills in using digital and calibrated equipment accurately. Candidates must be able to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the operational needs of the grocery retail environment. Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting moderate weights, and performing various motions related to the handling and preparation of bakery goods. Safety awareness and the ability to report hazards promptly are also key components of this role.

Working at BGC means joining a company that values safety, equality, and a drug- and alcohol-free workplace, ensuring a safe environment for all partners and customers. The company is an equal opportunity employer, dedicated to inclusive hiring practices without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, military status, or any other legally protected status. Ultimately, the Bakery Associate contributes directly to delivering a positive shopping experience for customers while enjoying a supportive, respectful, and rewarding work environment.
