Job Requirements

  • Pass initial interview
  • Successfully complete baker assessment testing
  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum three years experience in bakery operations
  • Health department training

Job Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum three years experience in full bakery operations and procedures or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Health department training required
  • Ability to calculate percentages and ratios for recipes
  • Effective communication skills including hearing, speaking, and understanding spoken word
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English to follow operating instructions, policies, and safety notices
  • Competence in filling out forms and writing reports
  • Thorough knowledge of baking methods, procedures, and safety
  • Ability to work under diverse conditions including varying temperatures and exposure to ingredients
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform required tasks
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and safety standards

Job Duties

  • Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance and follow dress regulations including wearing an approved hat or hair net and uniform
  • Assist in receiving and unloading merchandise, check and verify delivery against vendor invoices
  • Rotate bakery ingredients and merchandise according to store policy using first in, first out method
  • Observe shift operating hours as scheduled
  • Control excessive utility and water use and practice conservation
  • Maintain general housekeeping and comply with all health regulations
  • Check refrigeration equipment performance each shift
  • Report maintenance or equipment issues promptly
  • Use and maintain bakery equipment properly
  • Prepare dough and baking mixtures following company recipes
  • Pan frozen products and round up bread
  • Mix and decorate sweet breads, rolls, and cookies including adding toppings
  • Operate oven loading and unloading with knowledge of proper temperatures and baking durations
  • Run mixer and Moline sheeter, scale cakes and cupcakes
  • Assist in ordering and inventory control for bakery ingredients and supplies
  • Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policies
  • Record invoice documents accurately
  • Record markups, markdowns, in-store use, and spoilage
  • Monitor product sales to optimize production and reduce waste
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations including packaging requirements
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Maintain good communication within the department and organization
  • Help train associates as directed
  • Notify management of personnel issues or policy violations
  • Greet customers appropriately
  • Observe security standards, report abnormal behaviors
  • Complete required training programs
  • Comply with company safety and production planning initiatives
  • Use required safety equipment
  • Follow safety rules
