Job Description

Heinen's is a distinguished grocery store chain with a legacy dating back to 1929. Renowned for its commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service, Heinen's has deeply rooted itself as a premier supermarket in Northeast Ohio and Chicago. The company proudly operates 23 stores, including 19 in Cleveland, Ohio, and 4 in Chicago, Illinois, complemented by two distribution warehouses, a food production plant, and a corporate office located in Warrensville Heights, Ohio. As a multi-generational family-owned business, now in its fourth generation, Heinen's stresses an associate-first culture that prioritizes the quality of life for every team member. This culture is upheld through competitive compensation packages, ample professional development and leadership opportunities, paid time off, and flexible, balanced work schedules.

The Retail Professional at Heinen's plays a critical role in upholding the brand's Diamond Difference Standards, which are essential behaviors embodying the company's values and customer service promises. This position requires dedication to a professional appearance, warmly acknowledging customers, consistently assessing store conditions through Heinen's 5-Step QCSSS method (Quality, Cleanliness, Stock Levels, Signage, and Serviceability), expressing gratitude toward colleagues to foster positive workplace morale, and appropriately engaging customers. The role involves a dynamic daily routine prioritizing varying business needs and requires an in-depth focus on the Bakery Department's operational excellence.

This position is responsible for a variety of critical tasks including accurate order writing using effective pars and planning, teamwork in completing daily tasks such as scanning and recording shrink, stocking, rotating, merchandising, and rigorous monitoring of all food handling and temperature standards to ensure safety and quality. Compliance with personal and food safety standards is mandatory, along with active participation in corporate meetings and training sessions. The role demands a strong work ethic, flexibility to work non-traditional schedules including weekends and evenings, and a commitment to maintaining high standards in potentially challenging conditions. Up to 29 hours per week with variable shifts between 6 am and 8:30 pm are expected, providing opportunities for growth and promotion within a supportive environment. This role offers a chance to contribute to and grow with a storied company that values both employee development and community impact in the grocery retail sector.
