The position of Assistant Bakery Manager at Lee's Marketplace plays a vital role in supporting the Bakery Manager with the daily operations of the bakery department. This dynamic role involves numerous responsibilities, ranging from supervising bakery staff and managing inventory to planning production and ensuring outstanding customer service. The Assistant Bakery Manager actively contributes to maintaining an organized, clean, and safe work environment, while also ensuring all bakery products meet the company's standards for quality and presentation. Job Requirements

Experience 2+ years retail scratch baking experience preferred
Age 18 years or older
Food Handlers permit required
Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Ability to stand, walk, twist, sit, and bend for extended periods
Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
Manual dexterity for handling small objects and operating equipment
Ability to perform repetitive use of hands and arms to push, pull, carry, lift, reach, grip, and balance
Occasionally stoop, crouch, kneel, or crawl
Prolonged periods standing and walking
Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the store
Lifting may include floor to shoulder and overhead lifting repeatedly
Occasional use and climbing of step stools or ladders
Ability to write, speak, hear, and understand spoken word to respond promptly to pages, requests, team members, and guests

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
2+ years retail scratch baking experience preferred
Previous experience in retail or guest service preferred
Previous food service experience preferred
Previous leadership experience preferred
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent communication and customer service abilities
Proven ability to motivate and inspire a team
Strong analytical and decision-making skills
Good organizational and multitasking abilities
Ability to learn new technology quickly
Strong math skills
Ability to read and follow instructions
Ability to handle customer inquiries and complaints effectively

Job Duties

Help with the production, development, preparation, and maintenance of bakery items in accordance with recipes and quality standards
Oversee daily bakery operations including production schedules and workflow
Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies to prevent shortages
Ensure shelves and cases are filled, fresh, rotated, faced, and cleaned
Assist with training and supervision of bakery staff fostering a positive team environment
Educate customers about Lee's Marketplace bakery products and services
Maintain and process orders through digital and in-person channels
Monitor sales and profitability and implement strategies to increase revenue
Assist in managing budgets and controlling costs including labor and ingredient expenses
Maintain a clean and organized work area following all safety and sanitation procedures
Operate cash registers and handle transactions accurately if applicable
Work cooperatively with team members to achieve store goals and promote company mission and values
Participate in team meetings and training sessions
Assist other departments as needed
Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to encourage professional growth
