Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent education preferred
- one year experience as a baker's assistant in a high volume bakery preferred
- valid Food Handlers Permit accredited by Texas Department of State Health Services or ANSI required
- ability to operate commercial bakery equipment
- competency in basic baking skills such as scaling, mixing, proofing, baking, cooking, decorating, and knife use
- knowledge of preparing breads, rolls, biscuits, cakes, creams, custards, fillings, muffins, and pies from scratch or mixes
- ability to follow all department safety rules and maintain sanitation
- proficiency in English speaking, reading, and writing
- effective communication skills
- ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- self-motivated and able to manage time effectively
Job Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent education preferred
- one year experience as a baker's assistant in a high volume bakery organization preferred
- Food Handlers Permit from Texas Department of State Health Services or ANSI
- demonstrated baking skills including scaling, mixing, proofing, baking, cooking, decorating, and knife use
- ability to operate commercial bakery equipment such as divider, rounder, mixer, oven, pie press, proof box, sheeter, steam jacketed kettle, and stove
- proficiency in English for communication
- ability to adhere to food safety and sanitation standards
Job Duties
- Operate commercial bakery equipment including mixer, oven, proof box, steam jacketed kettle, blast chiller, and stove
- assist baker with preparation tasks such as scaling, mixing, proofing, baking, cooking, simple decorating, and use of knives
- maintain sanitation and cleanliness of kitchen equipment, tools, and work areas
- monitor and record temperatures of food and refrigeration units
- assist in ordering supplies, filling out daily production logs, inventory control, and ingredient requisitioning
- transport prepared food to patient tray lines and serve customers courteously
- assemble baked goods according to bake order sheets and special orders
- promote positive work environment and effective communication among team members
