Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education preferred
  • one year experience as a baker's assistant in a high volume bakery preferred
  • valid Food Handlers Permit accredited by Texas Department of State Health Services or ANSI required
  • ability to operate commercial bakery equipment
  • competency in basic baking skills such as scaling, mixing, proofing, baking, cooking, decorating, and knife use
  • knowledge of preparing breads, rolls, biscuits, cakes, creams, custards, fillings, muffins, and pies from scratch or mixes
  • ability to follow all department safety rules and maintain sanitation
  • proficiency in English speaking, reading, and writing
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • self-motivated and able to manage time effectively

Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent education preferred
  • one year experience as a baker's assistant in a high volume bakery organization preferred
  • Food Handlers Permit from Texas Department of State Health Services or ANSI
  • demonstrated baking skills including scaling, mixing, proofing, baking, cooking, decorating, and knife use
  • ability to operate commercial bakery equipment such as divider, rounder, mixer, oven, pie press, proof box, sheeter, steam jacketed kettle, and stove
  • proficiency in English for communication
  • ability to adhere to food safety and sanitation standards

Job Duties

  • Operate commercial bakery equipment including mixer, oven, proof box, steam jacketed kettle, blast chiller, and stove
  • assist baker with preparation tasks such as scaling, mixing, proofing, baking, cooking, simple decorating, and use of knives
  • maintain sanitation and cleanliness of kitchen equipment, tools, and work areas
  • monitor and record temperatures of food and refrigeration units
  • assist in ordering supplies, filling out daily production logs, inventory control, and ingredient requisitioning
  • transport prepared food to patient tray lines and serve customers courteously
  • assemble baked goods according to bake order sheets and special orders
  • promote positive work environment and effective communication among team members
