Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years of experience in a pastry or baking role
- Culinary or pastry school certification is preferred but not required
- Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, weekends, and holidays
- Strong baking and pastry skills
- Familiarity with food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage time efficiently and multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Food handler’s certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
Job Qualifications
- Strong understanding of baking techniques, pastry preparation, and presentation
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and sanitation standards
- Knowledge of basic culinary math and ingredient measurements
- Understanding of kitchen tools, commercial mixers, ovens, and baking equipment
- Excellent baking and pastry production skills
- Strong attention to detail for consistent quality and presentation
- Time management and organizational skills to meet production deadlines
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and adapt to menu changes
- Skilled in multitasking in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Adapt to changing priorities and kitchen needs
- Ability to communicate clearly with team members and supervisors
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays
- 1-3 years of experience in a pastry or baking role (hotel or upscale restaurant preferred)
- Culinary or pastry school certification is a plus
- Food handler’s certification or ability to obtain upon hire
Job Duties
- Prepare and bake pastries, desserts, bread, and other baked goods according to recipes and specifications
- Measure and mix ingredients using mixers, blenders, heat sources, and other kitchen equipment
- Decorate pastries and desserts to ensure an appealing presentation
- Assist with menu development by testing and recommending new dessert recipes
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry station and baking areas
- Ensure proper storage of ingredients and finished products to prevent spoilage
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards as set by local health codes
- Communicate effectively with the culinary team to coordinate production schedules
- Monitor product quality and consistency, making adjustments as needed
- Assist in inventory management by reporting low stock levels of ingredients and supplies
- Support other kitchen staff as needed, including cross-training when required
