Job Description

Guest Services, Inc., founded in 1917, is a well-established and respected hospitality management company recognized as a premier National Park Service concessionaire in the United States. With over a century of experience, Guest Services has built a reputation for delivering exceptional service across a wide array of client sites. These include luxury residential communities, upscale hotels and resorts, government and business dining facilities, full-service restaurants, state and national parks, outdoor recreation venues, boathouses, marinas, museums, conference centers, senior living communities, healthcare systems, school and university dining locations, and specialty retail stores. The company's commitment to excellence and diversification in the hospitality sector makes it a leading employer dedicated to creating outstanding experiences for clients and consumers alike. As an equal-opportunity employer, Guest Services embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), ensuring a workplace environment where employees are encouraged to bring their whole selves to work and contribute meaningfully to the service provided to its varied customer base. This holistic approach not only enriches the company culture but also enhances the overall quality of service offered.

The role of a Baker at Guest Services is integral to the food production and hospitality experience offered to customers. This position is hourly paid at $19.00 and entails preparing, mixing, and baking a variety of baked goods to meet the high standards expected by the company. Bakers at Guest Services undertake the hands-on tasks of cutting, peeling, and preparing fruits for pie fillings, as well as baking and decorating cakes, pastries, breads, and other baked products. The job requires skillful rolling, cutting, and shaping of dough to create rolls, pie crusts, tarts, cookies, and other related baked items. A vital part of the position involves cleaning and inspecting kitchen equipment, appliances, and work areas to ensure compliance with sanitation and safety standards. The Baker operates food stations, maintaining checklists, temperature logs, signage, and facilitating counter meetings to optimize station workflow and product quality. Additionally, the role includes requisitioning food supplies and kitchen equipment based on anticipated needs, contributing to smooth kitchen operations and inventory management. Bakers must be vigilant about safety concerns and report any hazards promptly to management, underscoring the company’s priority on health and workplace safety. The physical demands of the job are notable; the Baker must be able to move frequently within the unit, endure temperature extremes in freezers, refrigerators, and grill areas, and communicate effectively in English to collaborate successfully with coworkers and serve customers. The equipment used includes standard commercial cooking machinery and utensils, requiring proficiency and care to maintain operational effectiveness and safety. This position not only demands culinary expertise and technical skills but also a strong customer service mindset and dedication to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment. Joining Guest Services as a Baker provides the opportunity to work within a reputable company committed to excellence, inclusivity, and delivering memorable culinary experiences in a variety of high-profile settings.
