This position is designed for culinary associates eager to advance their skills and careers through a unique partnership between JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa and Rouxbe Cooking School. The partnership provides associates with access to comprehensive, self-paced online culinary training that caters to all levels of experience. This ensures that team members not only hone their craft through hands-on work but also expand their technical knowledge base via hundreds of visually rich, instructional lessons curated by Rouxbe’s renowned culinary curriculum. As a culinary associate here, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food that meets the resort's stringent recipe, quality, and presentation standards. The role demands proficiency in food preparation which includes portioning, chopping, and storing ingredients properly before use. You will also safely handle baking and measuring tools, along with various kitchen equipment and appliances, ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation protocols.
The position emphasizes strict adherence to personal hygiene and food safety handling procedures, and you will play a critical role in maintaining kitchen cleanliness and sanitation by setting up and breaking down workstations and cleaning as per the established guidelines. Monitoring the quality of food served throughout your shift is also a key responsibility. Additionally, this role expects associates to follow all company policies and procedures that cover workplace safety and security, reporting any accidents or unsafe conditions promptly to managers.

Job Duties
- Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality and presentation standards
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food before use
- Safely and appropriately use baking and measuring tools/equipment/appliances to prepare baked foods
- Follow and ensure compliance with food safety handling policies and procedures, including personal hygiene procedures
- Check and ensure correct temperatures of kitchen appliances and food, and report issues to management
- Wash and disinfect kitchen area
