The Bakery Associate role at Polly's involves hands-on preparation and baking of a variety of products including breads, breakfast items, pastries, and seasonal pies. The Bakery Associate will play a critical role in maintaining the freshness and quality of all products by adhering to established recipes and portion controls, managing inventory rotation, and ensuring all baking areas and equipment are kept clean and sanitary. Working hours for this position include morning, afternoon, and evening shifts with availability required on weekends and holidays, offering opportunities for flexible scheduling.

This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and excellent communication within the team and with supervisors known as Coaches. The Bakery Associate will be responsible for operating commercial baking equipment such as ovens and mixers, performing tasks like preparing quiches, cinnamon rolls, muffins, and various bread items to Polly's exacting standards. Moreover, the associate will be accountable for inventory management, including receiving and storing deliveries, proper labeling and rotation of ingredients to ensure consistent product quality. Compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations is essential to uphold Polly's reputation for providing safe and delicious baked goods.

The role offers a competitive hourly wage of $16.00 to $20.00, reflecting the skills and dedication needed in this position. Job Requirements

  • At least 1 year prior work experience as a cook, baker, or enrollment in a culinary program
  • Valid Food Handlers Card if required by county
  • Ability to use scales, thermometers, and measuring equipment
  • Experience working with commercial baking equipment
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Commitment to maintaining food safety and sanitation standards

Job Qualifications

  • At least 1 year prior work experience as a cook, baker, or enrollment in a culinary program
  • Ability to use scales, thermometers, measuring, and divide and multiply recipes
  • Good organizational, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with baking equipment including oven, mixers, etc
  • Clear understanding of kitchen and food safety guidelines
  • Valid Food Handlers Card (if required by county)

Job Duties

  • Prepare products using all methods, established portions, and recipes for baking preparation
  • Manages daily production and communication of product counts with Coaching team
  • Prepare breakfast items for bake including quiche, cinnamon rolls, muffins, etc
  • Prepare and bake bread items including loaves, buns, rolls, cookies, etc
  • Daily preparation of seasonal fresh fruit for pies and toppings
  • Clean all bake related machines, workstations, transit trays, and instruments too large for dishwasher
  • Responsible to properly label, organize and rotate bake ingredients in freeze and storage areas
  • Rotates bake inventory (merchandise and product supplies) to maintain freshness and quality
  • Receive orders, check invoices, and put deliveries away as needed
  • Prepare kitchen for the day including making sure everything is secure, lighting the oven, etc
  • Notify the Coaches of any food quality issues, inconsistencies of product with recipes, low inventory, etc
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary bake area and station at all times
  • Comply with established weight and measures, health, sanitation, and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Protect the Brand through promoting and providing extraordinary service when interacting with team members and guests
  • Demonstrate dependable leadership qualities to work primarily unassisted, and is proactive to escalate matters as needed
  • Flexible to cross train in other functions for back of the house/kitchen areas
  • Must be available to work morning, afternoon, and evening shifts
