Job Requirements
- Current health card
- Compliance with SNHD sanitation and health regulations
- Minimum two years baking experience
- Minimum one-year high volume cooking experience
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends
- Knowledge of pastry kitchen equipment and proper use
- Good memory and recipe recall skills
- Physical ability to perform kitchen duties
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work as part of a team
Job Qualifications
- At least two years experience as Baker or Lead Baker
- Minimum one-year high volume cooking experience preferably in a hotel
- Familiarity with and understanding of SNHD guidelines and sanitation procedures
- Working knowledge of Health District regulations
- Good memory with ability to recall recipes
- Knowledge of pastry kitchen equipment and knife skills
- Ability to work a variety of hours, days and shifts including weekends
- Attention to detail
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to train and guide new colleagues
Job Duties
- Prepare quality baked goods such as pastries, bread, chocolate, desserts, pies and special occasion desserts for restaurants and catering events
- Follow recipes and prep procedures to ensure exceptional product quality
- Rotate product in freezer and walk-in using FIFO method
- Communicate effectively with team and culinary management
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment
- Use ovens, mixers, sheeters, scales, walk-in and freezer properly
- Clean and sanitize equipment, work areas, containers and utensils
- Avoid overproduction during slow business weeks
- Assist supervisor and management in training new kitchen colleagues
- Follow recipes precisely and understand mise en place
- Mix, bake and finish recipes
- Plan necessary amounts per par level or business needs
- Utilize scales and measuring devices
- Work steadily and accurately, paying attention to detail
- Follow proper food handling techniques according to Health and Safety standards
- Clean and organize work area
- Ensure a neat, clean and safe working environment
- Complete special projects as requested by management team
