This position is for a Baker at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, a role ideal for candidates passionate about creating high-quality baked goods and dedicated to maintaining the highest culinary standards. Available on a full-time or part-time basis, this opportunity offers a competitive pay range of $15 to $17 per hour and requires open availability to accommodate various shifts, which will be further detailed during the interview process. The Baker will be responsible for preparing a variety of breads, pastries, cakes, and other baked goods strictly adhering to Sodexo recipes and production specifications. This role demands precision in measuring ingredients, mixing batters and doughs, regulating bake times and temperatures, and ensuring products meet rigorous quality standards in taste and presentation. The Baker will also be tasked with setting up and maintaining a clean and organized bake shop, including proper storage, rotation, and labeling of products. The job may require significant physical activity such as walking, standing for extended periods, lifting up to 35 pounds regularly, and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Job Duties
- Check daily production schedules and follow Sodexo recipes to prepare a variety of baked items from scratch such as breads, rolls, muffins, biscuits, cakes, and pastries
- Accurately weigh and measure ingredients, mix doughs and batters by hand or mixer, shape and cut dough, and bake items to perfection
- Regulate oven temperatures, monitor baking times, and ensure all products are prepared, held, and served at correct temperatures
- Set up and stock the bake shop area, maintain proper storage, rotation, labeling, and dating of all products, and keep the bakery clean and organized
- Pay close attention to detail, accommodate special requests, and ensure only high-quality baked items leave the kitchen
- Attend work and show for scheduled shifts on time with satisfactory regularity
- Perform additional duties as assigned depending on business needs and client requirements
