At The Village, the culture revolves around fostering a family-friendly and resident-centered environment that supports individuals at every stage of their aging journey. Whether it is through compassionate clinical care in Skilled Nursing or promoting independence and daily joy in Independent Living, the community emphasizes comfort, dignity, and joy for all its residents. They value kindness, teamwork, and a genuine passion for serving older adults, making it an ideal workplace for professionals who want to make a meaningful impact in the lives of seniors.
The Village is currently accepting applications for an experienced Bakery Chef to join their culinary team. This part-time role, available on weekends only, offers an hourly wage between $18.00 and $20.00, depending on experience. The position is perfect for candidates who have at least one year of experience baking from scratch in a busy kitchen and possess creativity in introducing new menu items and decorative skills. Educational qualifications may substitute for experience in some cases. The Bakery Chef will be responsible for preparing delicious baked goods and desserts such as rolls, cakes, and cookies, for residents and employees, strictly following standardized recipes. Beyond baking, the role involves planning quantities based on the number of persons to be served, delegating responsibilities to cook assistants, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation in the work area, and maintaining proper food storage practices adhering to FIFO (first in, first out) methods. The Bakery Chef will also help prepare baked goods for special diets and special functions like banquets, notify the Food Service Director or Chef about low supplies, and perform various duties in alignment with the mission statement and customer satisfaction motto of The Village's Food Service Department. This position prefers candidates with prior line cook or prep cook experience to enhance versatility and efficiency in food preparation duties. The Village provides a supportive atmosphere where every associate’s contribution is valued, making it a rewarding place to build a career in culinary arts within a senior living community dedicated to excellence and compassionate care. Additionally, the employer encourages continued education and professional growth by offering scholarships and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, among other perks. The Village is an equal opportunity employer and prefers candidates who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, emphasizing the health and safety of the community and staff.
