Job Description

The Works is a flourishing regional chain of community-centered cafes dedicated to delivering the highest quality food and the friendliest customer service. Each cafe is thoughtfully designed to reflect the distinctive character and needs of the community it serves, making The Works more than just a place to eat—it's a hub where customers can enjoy a warm, inviting atmosphere paired with nutritious, wholesome meals. The company places strong emphasis on sourcing healthy, local ingredients to create a wide variety of offerings such as bagels, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, soups, salads, smoothies, fresh-baked sweets, and much more. Beyond just serving food, The Works aims to contribute positively to the health and well-being of its customers, team members, and the environment, fostering a culture of sustainability, community involvement, and wellness. This commitment makes working at The Works an enriching experience for those who value quality food and care about supporting local suppliers and environmentally friendly practices.

We are currently seeking a dedicated Baker to join our early-morning bake team at our Amherst, MA location. This role is perfectly suited for someone who loves early hours and enjoys working behind the scenes. If you have a passion for baking and want to be part of a dynamic team that takes pride in preparing fresh, handmade bakery items daily, this position offers an exciting opportunity. The Baker will be a vital contributor to preparing our signature items including bagels, artisan breads, and other freshly baked goods, ensuring each product meets our company's high standards for quality and consistency.

The Works offers both full-time and part-time roles with paid training provided to candidates who demonstrate a strong passion for baking and a willingness to learn, even if they have limited prior experience. The position requires great communication skills, the ability to work efficiently across multiple tasks, and adherence to food safety regulations. Bakers are expected to embody organization and planning skills, work well independently, and be capable of standing and moving throughout long shifts that start as early as 2:00 A.M. Weekend availability is also important due to the community-focused nature of the cafes. In return, The Works supports its staff with competitive pay, including hourly wages plus pooled staff tips, paid vacations, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, and performance-based bonuses. Employees also benefit from a generous discount on nourishing meals, allowing them to enjoy the same high-quality food they help prepare.

This role offers a unique chance to join a company that is more than a workplace—it's a growing community where employees are valued contributors to both the customer experience and the local environment. If you are an organized, detail-oriented individual who thrives in early morning shifts and wants to grow within a supportive and vibrant company culture, The Works invites you to become a part of their team and help craft delicious experiences every day.
