Located in Nashville, Tennessee, at 2800 Opryland Drive, Gaylord Hotels stands out for its vibrant atmosphere, visionary service, and unique programming that bring people together in memorable ways. As a part of the Marriott International portfolio, Gaylord Hotels benefits from an extensive global network, robust career growth opportunities, and a culture that values diversity and inclusion. Committed to fostering a workplace where every associate is respected and empowered, Gaylord Hotels embraces the rich blend of talent, culture, and experiences its team members bring. The environment encourages creativity, entrepreneurship, and heartfelt service, ensuring that team members—referred to as STARs—can thrive both professionally and personally.
The Food Preparation role at Gaylord Hotels is a dynamic and essential position within the Food and Beverage & Culinary department, dedicated to supporting the culinary team in delivering high-quality food to guests. This full-time, non-management position operates during the day shift and pays between $22.00 and $23.57 per hour. The Food Preparation team member is responsible for preparing ingredients, following recipes and presentation standards, as well as operating cooking equipment like ovens, grills, and fryers to prepare both hot and cold foods. This role requires careful attention to food safety, quality control, and maintaining hygienic work conditions throughout the kitchen and food preparation areas.
Working within a fast-paced hospitality environment, the individual in this role must be adept at following detailed food preparation checklists, testing food for doneness, and ensuring proper portion sizes. Additionally, regular housekeeping duties such as washing and disinfecting kitchen tools and workstations, monitoring appliance temperatures, and assisting with setup and breakdown of the workspace are critical elements of the job. Safety and security procedures are rigorously followed, with an emphasis on reporting any hazards, accidents, or maintenance needs promptly.
The role also highlights the importance of teamwork and interpersonal skills. Team members are expected to communicate clearly and professionally, contribute positively to a collaborative atmosphere, support colleagues in meeting shared objectives, and respond appropriately to workplace concerns. Physical stamina is essential, as the position involves standing, walking, bending, lifting objects up to 25 pounds, and performing other manual tasks for extended periods.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or G.E.D., along with at least one year of related work experience. Although supervisory responsibilities are not part of this role, strong personal discipline, reliability, and a proactive attitude are necessary for success. No licenses or certifications are required, making this an excellent opportunity for candidates seeking to build a career in the vibrant hospitality and culinary fields.
Gaylord Hotels fosters a culture of equal opportunity employment by embracing diversity across all protected categories and ensuring an inclusive work environment for all associates. As a part of Marriott International, team members have access to comprehensive benefits and professional development resources, supporting both career advancement and personal well-being. Join Gaylord Hotels and become part of a global team that values your unique contributions, providing a platform to grow, belong, and thrive.
