Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • Prior experience in baking or food preparation preferred
  • Ability to operate bakery equipment safely
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and customers
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Capability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods
  • Commitment to maintaining cleanliness and following safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age due to required operation of bakery equipment
  • Prior baking experience preferred
  • Excellent time management, prioritization and organization skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work at a fast paced and efficient manner
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure
  • Strong team player attitude with ability to anticipate team needs
  • Ability to take initiative and make decisions independently under limited supervision
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, and push or pull for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Job Duties

  • Serve customers in the bakery department while modeling Sendik's culture and providing "best in class" customer service including greeting, engaging, delighting and thanking every guest for their business
  • Prepare, proof and bake products for the bakery case and sales floor including breads, rolls, donuts and muffins while ensuring quality meets company standards
  • Apply toppings such as icing, glaze and seeds to baked products
  • Measure and mix ingredients in accordance with recipes
  • Develop and follow a daily production schedule to ensure department readiness
  • Track department inventory to ensure correct quantity and variety of product
  • Operate, maintain and clean baking equipment including ovens, proofers, knives and mixers
  • Assist department manager in preparing and placing orders
  • Package and price bakery items
  • Organize and store bakery supplies
  • Assist with training and mentoring new associates
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety and sanitation regulations
  • Assist with other bakery department duties as needed
