The Baker position at Schlotzsky's is a vital role directly responsible for producing the fresh baked bread and pizza crusts that set the restaurant apart from competitors. Bakers must adhere strictly to recipe standards to ensure the bread and crust quality meets appearance and texture guidelines. This role requires attention to detail, consistency, and a passion for baking, as the products are baked fresh daily and are central to the Schlotzsky's customer experience. Bakers work with bakery equipment and are responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of their workstations, always observing safety and sanitation protocols to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to bend and lift heavy dough tubs
  • Capability to perform repetitive arm and hand movements
  • Comfort working around hot equipment and handling hot pans
  • Willingness to stand throughout scheduled shifts
  • Adhere to strict safety and sanitation standards
  • Report to work on time and meet uniform and grooming standards
  • Ability to work independently and organize priorities with minimal supervision

Job Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age to operate bakery equipment
  • Ability to handle fast-paced and high stress situations in the store
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently
  • Multi-tasking skills to coordinate several tasks during baking process
  • Familiarity with safety and sanitation protocols in a kitchen environment
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency in following recipe standards

Job Duties

  • Bake batches according to the needs shown on daily PAR/BAKE order sheets
  • Consistently produce a high quality bakery product
  • Be extremely accurate with weights and measurements for all recipe items
  • Keep workstation clean at all times
  • Keep freezer product in order and sealed after each use
  • Properly clean all dishes and pans throughout shift
  • Assist managers in determining current and needed bread levels and bake sequence
  • Strictly adhere to all safety and health code requirements for the bakery including all OSHA and SERVSAFE guidelines
  • Complete all baking assignments in a timely manner
