Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Over six months up to one year of similar or related experience
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently
- Ability to perform physical activities including stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Visual ability including color vision, depth perception and field of vision
- Must be able to interpret instructions and solve practical problems
- Ability to comply with company hygiene and dress codes
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with temperature extremes
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Over six months up to one year of similar or related experience
- Ability to provide friendly and efficient customer service
- Basic arithmetic skills including fractions, decimals and percentages
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
- Ability to operate bakery equipment
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow sanitation and safety procedures
- Leadership skills to operate as a lead with bakery clerks
Job Duties
- Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
- Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store
- Makes an effort to learn customers' names and to address them by name whenever possible
- Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing products that are out of reach, loading or unloading heavy items, passing along customer suggestions and performing other tasks to enhance the shopping experience
- Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service including taking product orders
- Checks orders for the day and sets up a timeline and production schedule
- Prepares, bakes, and fries all department products as needed
- Reviews the status and appearance of products for freshness and pulls products by stale date
- Invoices and puts away product as instructed by the department manager
- Anticipates product needs for current and subsequent days
- Inspects incoming product quality and quantity
- Understands the use and issues related to bakery equipment and follows up on potential maintenance issues
- Checks signage for correct labels on advertised items
- Reviews department for potential safety issues
- Operates as a lead with bakery clerks
- Prioritizes orders per customer and manager requests
- Proofs necessary items
- Pulls product from the freezer or cooler
- Maintains proper sanitation procedures and keeps work area clean and neat
- Maintains strict adherence to company hygiene and dress guidelines
- Adheres to company policies and individual store guidelines
- Reports to work on time when scheduled
