The company values its associates profoundly, considering them its greatest asset. One of Food City’s unique features is its employee stock ownership plan, through which over 13% of the company is owned by its employees. This model enhances pride and accountability among staff, contributing positively to the quality of service and products provided. Located primarily in the Southeastern United States, Food City continues to expand its footprint by staying true to its core values—exceptional service, community involvement, and operational excellence.

Food City places a strong emphasis on community involvement, encouraging associates to engage with local civic organizations and contribute to the neighborhoods they serve. This aligns with the company’s philosophy of giving back and fostering a positive community impact. The company offers a diverse range of career opportunities across various departments including baking, accounting, retail operations, and logistics, ensuring employees can find a role that matches their passion and skill set.

The Food Service Associate role at Food City is a vital position, designed for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments and are passionate about delivering outstanding customer experiences. This position is responsible for ensuring courteous and efficient customer service in alignment with the company’s mission to run the best store in town. The associate will be instrumental in creating a friendly and fun atmosphere both for customers and fellow team members through flexibility, teamwork, and a customer-first approach.

In this role, the associate will prepare and produce high-quality food products such as bread, rolls, pies, and cookies, adhering strictly to manual guidelines to meet or exceed customer and company expectations. They will maintain a clean and organized workstation, manage stock rotation in coolers and freezers to ensure product freshness, and assist with inventory management by ordering necessary products and supplies.

Food City expects Food Service Associates to be highly adaptable and cross-trained across multiple areas, allowing for varied responsibilities and opportunities for growth within the company. Working closely with a team, the associate will contribute to maintaining the company’s food safety program and compliance with local regulations concerning packaging, weights, and ingredient labeling. Overall, this role is essential for upholding the quality standards and customer service values that Food City prides itself on.

Food City offers competitive weekly pay with direct deposit, a 401(k) plan with company match, employee stock ownership, company-paid life and disability insurance, medical and dental plans with wellness benefits, paid holidays and vacations, and exclusive associate offers. Flexible scheduling options support associates in balancing their work and personal lives, reinforcing Food City’s commitment to employee well-being and satisfaction.
