The role of the Baker at Cobblers, Cakes and Kream is both exciting and demanding. This position calls for a skilled and experienced individual capable of preparing an extensive variety of pastries including cobblers, cookies, cakes, pies, and other delightful creations. The Baker will be responsible for opening the bakery early each morning at 6 am, ensuring that all kitchen equipment and tools are clean and ready for use. Precision is key, as mixing dough and preparing fillings require accurate measurements and a keen eye for quality. The candidate must have proficiency in adjusting oven temperatures to achieve perfect baking results consistently.

Creativity plays a substantial role in this position; Bakers are expected to expertly decorate cakes with glazes, icings, buttercream, and edible decorations like flowers, continually bringing artistic flair to each product. Custom orders, such as birthday cakes or other special requests, will necessitate adaptability and the ability to tailor creations to diverse client preferences. The role also involves recommending new recipes to refresh and expand the bakery’s menu, helping attract an even broader customer base.

Additional responsibilities include inventory tracking, ordering supplies when necessary, and ensuring compliance with all health and safety guidelines to maintain the bakery’s standard of cleanliness and safety. Efficient schedule management, production planning, and collaboration with the rest of the bakery team are crucial to meeting daily production goals while maintaining quality.

The ideal candidate will bring experience as a Baker or Pastry Chef, strong knowledge of professional kitchen equipment including mixers, blenders, and dough sheeters, and a thorough understanding of food safety practices. Excellence in cake decoration techniques, time management skills, and the ability to stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment are essential.
