Job Description
Panera Bread is a renowned leader in the restaurant industry, recognized for its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. As an award-winning franchise group, it boasts significant growth potential and is dedicated to fostering a positive and dynamic work environment. Panera Bread's cafes serve as community hubs where customers enjoy fresh, high-quality food made from the best ingredients. The bakery is the heart of these cafes, and the culinary craft behind baking fresh bread and pastries daily is essential to the company’s ongoing success.
Joining Panera Bread as a Baker offers a unique opportunity to be part of a team that prides itself on excellence and quality. Bakers at Panera begin their journey as Bakers-In-Training (BIT), where they learn the intricate art and science of baking. This training ensures that each team member is fully certified to work independently, harnessing their skills to produce delicious and visually appealing baked goods on time and up to Panera’s exacting standards. The role requires a high level of coordination to manage daily baking responsibilities effectively while maintaining strict adherence to established procedures and quality controls.
In this role, Bakers are responsible for preparing all the fresh bread and pastries needed to delight customers each day. This involves maintaining rigorous standards for flavor and quality, always using 100% real ingredients to uphold Panera’s signature taste and health-conscious philosophy. Beyond baking, team members support operations by aiding in stocking, food preparation, cleaning, and sanitation tasks to ensure the bakery and café environment meet health and safety regulations.
Panera Bread’s workplace culture is built on the pillars of Warmth, Belonging, Growth, and Trust. Bakers are encouraged to foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere within their teams. They also play a critical role in assisting management and colleagues, contributing to a collaborative and efficient work setting. This role offers both full-time and part-time shifts, all of which start at 4:00 pm, accommodating a range of schedules including weekends and holidays. The position also requires flexibility to work at different locations if necessary, emphasizing the need for reliable personal transportation.
Compensation for this role ranges between $16 and $23 per hour plus tip allocation, reflecting experience and skill level. Panera Bread offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the health and financial security of its employees. These benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts for medical and dependent care, short- and long-term disability plans, life insurance, and multiple supplemental insurance options such as accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity, and pet insurance. Paid time off and a 401K plan further enhance the employment package, providing Bakers with opportunities for growth, security, and work-life balance. Panera Bread is committed to equity and inclusion, operating as an Equal Opportunity Employer and valuing diversity within its workforce.
