The Baker position at La Colombe’s Flagship Cafe is crucial in maintaining and enhancing this exceptional culinary experience. The role demands expertise in shaping and baking a variety of artisan breads using commercial equipment like mixers and deck ovens. Early morning shifts beginning at 3:30 AM, weekend and holiday work are mandatory, which suits candidates who thrive in dynamic, demanding schedules. This entry requires that the individual be highly capable from day one, minimizing the need for extended training and demonstrating strong proficiency in hand-shaping and baking techniques.

The Baker's responsibilities include preparing the workstation for daily baking, portioning and hand-shaping rustic loaves, baking bread to perfection, and displaying the products appealingly for retail sales. Attention to detail extends to maintaining cleanliness, safety, and sanitation standards in all food preparation areas. Regular quality control and adherence to time standards are vital to meet customer expectations and maintain operational efficiency. The role also includes general bakery support tasks, playing a collaborative part in overall cafe operations.

Compensation for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience, with an hourly rate starting at $21.00. Additionally, Chobani offers up to 60 hours of accrued paid time off covering vacation and personal leave, alongside up to 60 hours of flexible time off including sick leave. Job Duties

  • Opening and preparing workstations for the daily bake
  • Portioning and hand-shaping a variety of free-form rustic loaves
  • Baking baguettes, sourdoughs, and more in a deck oven
  • Neatly arranging bread displays for retail
  • Successfully balancing shaping/baking duties
  • Proper usage of commercial equipment including mixers, ovens, and knives
  • Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices
  • Quality control
  • Adhere to timing standards and schedules for all products and services
  • Maintain clean, safe, and sanitary stations (shaping room, ovens, walk-in cooler, etc.)
  • Properly clean and maintain equipment
  • Complete other general bakery tasks as assigned
