Job Description

As a part-time Baker, you will be responsible for inspecting machinery at the beginning of each day to identify any needed repairs and promptly reporting these to the Bakery Manager. Your main duties include preparing breads, pastries, and other baked goods following standardized recipes and procedures to maintain consistent quality and taste. At the end of your shift, you will be expected to thoroughly clean all machinery used during the day, ensuring all equipment meets our hygiene standards and is ready for the next day's operations. Additionally, you will assist in organizing and replenishing bakery bins and shelves to prepare products for sale, contributing to an attractive and well-stocked sales floor.
Your role requires physical stamina as you will routinely lift boxes and products weighing between 20 and 60 pounds, place products on dollies or carts, and push or pull items ranging from 30 to 200 pounds. Tasks such as bending, stooping, grasping, and gripping products for preparation or display are regular parts of the job. You will also engage in sweeping and keeping your work area clean to uphold a safe and sanitary environment. Responsibilities extend to placing and removing products from bakery coolers, proofing cabinets, and ovens, as well as reaching above shoulder level for product placement in the bakery and sales floor.
The job requires adherence to strict health and safety guidelines. You must wear appropriate headwear, such as hats or hairnets, and maintain rigorous hand hygiene by washing hands frequently and thoroughly with hot water for no less than 20 seconds. Working in varying temperatures, including freezer, refrigerator, and oven areas, is an essential part of this role. You will also handle cleaning chemicals responsibly to maintain departmental equipment and tools.

Job Requirements
- Must obey all state and federal guidelines regarding health and safety policies
- Wear proper headwear such as hat or hairnet
- Wash hands frequently with hot water from elbows down for not less than 20 seconds
- Ability to lift boxes and product ranging between 20 lbs up to 60 lbs
- Ability to push/pull items weighing up to 200 lbs
- Capability to bend/stoop to pick up or place products below waist level
- Ability to reach above shoulder level for product placement
- Willingness to work in varying temperatures including freezer, refrigerator, and ovens
- Ability to work on feet and walk constantly from one area to another
- Ability to use cleaning chemicals safely and effectively
- Ability to climb ladders to retrieve product on top shelf or bakery cooler
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous bakery or food preparation experience preferred
- Knowledge of bakery equipment operation and maintenance
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items

- Good communication and teamwork skills
Job Duties
- Inspect machinery at beginning of day for potential repairs and report need for repairs to Bakery Manager
- Prepare breads, pastries, etc.
- Clean machinery at end of day
- Lift boxes and product ranging between 20 lbs up to 60 lbs
- Place boxes/product onto dolly or cart
- Push/pull between 30 lbs up to 200 lbs (items on cart/dolly)
- Bend/Stoop pick up and or place product below waist level (including shelves and racks)
- Place product onto bins and position for sale
- Grasp/Grip product to prepare for sales floor by either cutting or cleaning product
- Constant sweeping/pushing broom to pick up debris to keep work area clean
- Place and remove product from Bakery cooler, proofing, and ovens (including shelving and bakery bins)
- Reaching above shoulder level (produce placement on sales floor plus shelving/rack system in bakery warehouse areas)
- Place debris/trash/recycle cardboard in respective areas
- Clean and maintain bakery tables and bins
