The Baker role at Carlos Bakery is a fundamental position responsible for the baking, decorating, and overall presentation of all bakery products sold in the storefront. As a Baker, you will produce the entire line of baked goods, from quality cakes and cupcakes to cookies and biscotti, ensuring that every item meets the established standards of quality and presentation. This role demands attention to detail in following recipes and preparation procedures while maintaining the quality of raw materials. You will be expected to handle the baking process, decoration, and special orders with precision and creativity to uphold Carlos Bakery’s reputation.
Your responsibilities also include managing production pace relative to store demand, avoiding overproduction, and using inventory rotation methods such as FIFO to maintain freshness of goods. Operation and proper maintenance of bakery equipment, including ovens, mixers, sheeters, scales, and freezer units, is an important part of the job, as is maintaining a clean and sanitary production area compliant with food safety regulations. The role requires being quick, accurate, organized, and respectful in the workplace.
In addition to baking duties, you will play a customer-facing role by greeting and assisting customers, providing knowledgeable advice on product selections, and ensuring that customers receive exceptional service at all times. You will also assist the front-of-house staff by answering product-related questions and facilitating the specialty cake order process, including entering order information into the computerized sales system. Your involvement helps foster a service-oriented company image and builds strong customer relationships. Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- experience in baking or pastry production
- ability to follow recipes and food safety standards
- skill in operating commercial bakery equipment

Job Duties
- produce our entire line of baked goods including cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and biscotti
- ensure exceptional product quality by following recipes and prep procedures
- bake and decorate according to Carlos Bakery product standards
- keep up with pace of store and customer flow
- avoid overproduction during slow business weeks
- rotate product in freezer or walk-in using FIFO method
- maintain a clean production area and sanitize equipment and work spaces
- prepare special orders to customer specifications
- provide exceptional customer service
- greet and assist customers in a courteous and friendly manner
- guide front-of-house staff on product questions and assist in product selection
- take specialty cake orders and enter sales information into Salesforce
- ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
- perform other duties as directed by management
