The Baker role is based at Thomas Hospital, located at 750 Morphy Avenue, Fairhope, AL 36532. This position requires baking and preparation of a variety of baked goods such as breads, pies, cakes, cookies, and pastries in line with production and catering specifications. The schedule is flexible with open availability, which means that hours and days may vary to accommodate production needs. The Baker position demands prior food service and baking experience, emphasizing the need for skilled handling and preparation of food items with safety and sanitation as top priorities. Job Duties
- Bake breads, pies, cakes, cookies and other pastries as necessary per the provided production and catering sheets
- assists in production planning to meet daily requirements
- ensures proper food preparation by utilizing approved recipes, following prescribed production standards and use of proper equipment
- assists with completion of production records including waste tracking, used/unused portions and product shortages
- informs supervisor when supplies are low
- ensures proper presentation, food quality, portion control and maintenance of serving temperatures
- maintains sanitation and orderliness of equipment, supplies and utensils within work area
- handles food items appropriately with all safety regulations in mind
- cleans equipment and workstation thoroughly before leaving area
- interacts with customers and resolves complaints in a friendly, customer-service oriented manner
- consistently keeps up with peak production and service calmly, accurately and efficiently
- checks to ensure all food is presented, served and displayed per standards
- follows principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment according to corporate and OSHA standards
- completes shift work timely and thoroughly according to department standards
- performs other duties as assigned
