Job Requirements
- High school or equivalent experience
- More than six months up to one year of similar or related bakery experience
- Basic arithmetic skill including fractions, decimals, and percentages
- Ability to handle physical job demands including lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to maintain vision standards with or without correction
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Ability to follow company guidelines regarding personal hygiene, dress, and sanitation procedures
- Capability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to flour, noise, temperature extremes, dampness, vibrations, equipment hazards, and cleaning chemicals
- Willingness to pass pre-employment drug screening
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Over six months up to one year of related bakery or food preparation experience
- Ability to operate bakery equipment such as mixers, proof boxes, ovens, sheeters, rounders, and fryers
- Skilled in providing excellent customer service
- Able to lead bakery clerks and coordinate team tasks
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Capable of prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to solve practical problems involving a variety of variables
Job Duties
- Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
- Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store
- Makes an effort to learn customers' names and to address them by name whenever possible
- Assists customers by escorting them to the products they are looking for, securing out-of-reach products, loading or unloading heavy items, making note of customer suggestions or requests, and performing other tasks to enhance the shopping experience
- Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service to customers who call including taking product orders
- Checks orders for the day and sets up a timeline and production schedule
- Prepares makeup, bakes, and fries all department products as needed
- Reviews the status and appearance of products for freshness and pulls by stale date
- Invoices and puts away products as instructed by the department manager
- Anticipates product needs for current and subsequent days
- Inspects incoming product quality and quantity
- Understands bakery equipment use and reports maintenance issues
- Checks signage for correct labels on ad items
- Reviews department for safety issues
- Operates as a lead with bakery clerks
- Prioritizes orders as per customer and department manager request
- Proofs necessary items
- Pulls product from freezer or cooler
- Practices proper sanitation and maintains clean work area
- Maintains adherence to personal hygiene and dress guidelines
