The role available is a part-time Baker position responsible for various tasks associated with preparing baked products and maintaining the bakery workspace in excellent condition. This job involves inspecting machinery daily for any potential repairs or maintenance needs and reporting these promptly to the Bakery Manager. The Baker is required to prepare breads, pastries, and other bakery products with accuracy and care while complying strictly with all health and safety policies, including wearing the proper headwear and maintaining stringent hand hygiene. This position demands physical stamina as it involves lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, climbing ladders, and walking frequently throughout the work area. Additionally, the Baker will manage organizing and placing bakery products on shelves, bins, and carts for sale, ensuring that products are clean and ready for customers.
The job also entails cleaning machinery at the end of the day to maintain hygiene standards and safe working environments. A key part of daily duties includes sweeping the workspace to keep it free from debris and handling disposal duties such as removing trash, recycle cardboard, and other waste materials. The Baker must be proficient in safely managing bakery equipment and tools, including the use of chemicals for cleaning and maintenance. Job Requirements
- Must obey all state and federal guidelines regarding health and safety policies
- Wear proper headwear: hat, hairnet, etc.
- Wash hands frequently with hot water from elbows down for not less than 20 seconds
- Ability to lift boxes and product ranging between 20 lbs up to 60 lbs
- Ability to push/pull items between 30 lbs up to 200 lbs on cart or dolly
- Ability to bend/stoop and reach above shoulder level
- Ability to work in varying temperatures including freezer, refrigerator, and oven environments
- Must assist with written special orders to ensure excellent customer service
- Must work with varying types of chemicals for cleaning and maintenance
- Physical ability to walk constantly, carry, lift, push, pull, bend/stoop, and climb ladders
Job Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a bakery or food production environment preferred
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in food handling
- Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately
- Strong physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor
- Good communication skills
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards
- Experience with bakery machinery and equipment is beneficial
Job Duties
- Inspect machinery at beginning of day for potential repairs and report need for repairs to Bakery Manager
- Prepare breads, pastries, etc.
- Clean machinery at end of day
- Lift boxes and product ranging between 20 lbs up to 60 lbs
- Place boxes/product onto dolly or cart
- Push/pull between 30 lbs up to 200 lbs (items on cart/dolly)
- Bend/Stoop pick up and or place product below waist level (including shelves and racks)
- Place product onto bins and position for sale
- Grasp/Grip product to prepare for sales floor by either cutting or cleaning product
- Constant sweeping/pushing broom to pick up debris to keep work area clean
- Place and remove product from Bakery cooler, proofing, and ovens (including shelving and bakery bins)
- Reaching above shoulder level (produce placement on sales floor plus shelving/rack system in bakery warehouse areas)
- Place debris/trash/recycle cardboard in respective areas
- Will clean and maintain bakery tables and bins
