Located at the new Durango Casino & Resort in southwest Las Vegas, Summer House opened its doors in late 2023 and quickly became a favorite destination for guests seeking a relaxed yet sophisticated dining experience. The restaurant offers lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch services with both indoor and outdoor seating options, allowing patrons to enjoy the captivating ambiance regardless of the season. The Baker position at Summer House is integral to maintaining the high standards of quality and creativity expected from the brand’s culinary team. Bakers are responsible for preparing, producing, and presenting a variety of baked goods, pastries, and desserts that align with the restaurant’s California-inspired menu and commitment to fresh, sustainable ingredients. This role requires precision, creativity, and the capability to work efficiently under pressure to ensure all bakery items meet the prescribed recipes and special requests. Teamwork is a critical element, as bakers collaborate closely with chefs, kitchen staff, and management to manage inventory, oversee quality control, and assist in inventory ordering processes. Flexibility in scheduling is necessary, with availability required for various shifts including weekends.
This role demands someone who is attentive to safety protocols, capable of handling kitchen tools and equipment proficiently, and able to move and lift various weights within the kitchen environment. Bakers need to be detail-oriented, able to multitask calmly in a fast-paced kitchen, and maintain effective communication both within the team and with management. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous baking experience preferred
- Ability to safely use and operate kitchen tools and equipment
- Availability to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends
- Ability to stand and walk for an entire shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work in a confined, crowded, and noisy environment
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Prepare ingredients needed for bread, pastry and/or dessert recipes as needed
- Follow all prescribed portioning controls and par levels
- Maintain food safety and quality standards
- Ability to read a thermometer correctly and efficiently
- Communicate any food delays or issues to Coordinator
- Maintain menu item counts and communicate to Management and service staff when quantities fall below restaurant specific minimum quantity
- Accurately account for all items coming out of the station
- Understand and follow the food allergy procedure and special orders/restrictions
- Comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures
- Follow all rules, policies, procedures and conditions of employment, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook
- Get along well with others and be a team player
- Other duties will be assigned as needed
