The role is that of a part-time Bakery Worker, sometimes referred to as a Baker or Bakery Assistant. This position plays a critical role in the smooth running of the bakery by ensuring that all machinery is inspected and maintained properly, baked goods are prepared with attention to detail, and the workspace is kept clean and hygienic. This position requires physical fitness as it involves lifting heavy boxes, pushing and pulling carts with heavy weights, and working in various temperature conditions including freezer, refrigerator, and ovens. The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of food safety practices and comply with state and federal health regulations. Wearing proper protective clothing such as hats or hairnets, and frequent hand washing, are essential practices expected in this role. The bakery worker is also responsible for organizing products on shelves and racks, cleaning baking equipment and work areas, and assisting with special orders to ensure customer satisfaction. Meticulous attention to cleaning duties is necessary to maintain the bakery tables, bins, and overall work environment.

The role also requires constant movement around the bakery, accommodating the dynamic nature of food baking and retailing environments. Job Requirements

  • Must obey all State and Federal guidelines regarding health and safety policies
  • Wear proper headwear such as hat or hairnet
  • Wash hands frequently with hot water from elbows down for not less than 20 seconds
  • Ability to lift between 20 lbs and 60 lbs
  • Capability to push/pull up to 200 lbs

Job Duties

  • Inspect machinery at beginning of day for potential repairs and report need for repairs to Bakery Manager
  • Prepare breads, pastries, etc.
  • Clean machinery at end of day
  • Lift boxes and product ranging between 20 lbs up to 60 lbs
  • Place boxes/product onto dolly or cart
  • Push/pull between 30 lbs up to 200 lbs (items on cart/dolly)
  • Bend/stoop pick up and or place product below waist level (including shelves and racks)
  • Place product onto bins and position for sale
  • Grasp/grip product to prepare for sales floor by either cutting or cleaning product
  • Constant sweeping/pushing broom to pick up debris to keep work area clean
  • Place and remove product from Bakery cooler, proofing, and ovens (including shelving and bakery bins)
  • Reaching above shoulder level (produce placement on sales floor plus shelving/rack system in bakery warehouse areas)
  • Place debris/trash/recycle cardboard in respective areas
  • Clean and maintain bakery tables and bins
