Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • over six months up to one year of related experience
  • ability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently
  • visual acuity with or without correction including color vision and depth perception
  • capable of stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to flour, noise, temperature extremes, dampness, vibrations, equipment hazards, and cleaning chemicals
  • adherence to personal hygiene and dress codes
  • punctuality and reliable attendance

  • ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
  • arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
  • basic data copying and interviewing skills

Job Duties

  • Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service
  • smile and greet customers in a friendly manner
  • make an effort to learn and use customers' names
  • assist customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading/unloading heavy items, noting customer suggestions
  • answer the telephone and take product orders
  • check daily orders and set production schedule
  • prepare, bake and fry department products
  • review product quality and pull stale items
  • invoice and put away products
  • anticipate product needs for current and future days
  • inspect incoming product quality and quantity
  • understand and maintain bakery equipment
  • check signage accuracy
  • review department safety
  • operate as a lead with bakery clerks
  • prioritize orders
  • proof necessary items
  • pull product from freezer or cooler
  • practice sanitation procedures and maintain cleanliness
  • adhere to personal hygiene and dress guidelines
  • follow company policies and report to work on time
  • order supplies and merchandise (except cake decorating items)
  • re-merchandise and manage product shelf space
  • write department schedule and manage staffing in bakery manager's absence
  • assist in other store areas
  • perform other job-related duties and special projects as required
