Chang's is an essential support position within the restaurant’s operations aimed at enhancing the overall guest experience. This role requires delivering food efficiently and courteously to guests, assisting in maintaining cleanliness and organization of the dining and service areas, and supporting the front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service delivery. The Backwaiter is a vital link between the kitchen and the dining room, responsible for monitoring the expo line, running trays of food to tables, answering guests' questions, clearing tables promptly, and restocking service stations throughout the shift. This position demands excellent multitasking and communication skills in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Additionally, Backwaiters help operate kitchen equipment such as coffee and iced tea machines and POS systems and assist in greeting, seating guests, and packaging takeout orders when necessary. Training is provided, making this an accessible entry point into the hospitality industry for those interested in gaining valuable experience and advancing within the company. Employment is available on a full-time and part-time hourly basis, with compensation starting at $2.83 per hour plus tips, based on experience. P.F. Job Requirements

  • No prior experience required
  • Ability to stand, reach, bend, balance, and lift objects up to 30 lbs repeatedly during a shift
  • Possess or obtain a current Food Handler's Card where applicable
  • Strong multitasking skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure

Job Duties

  • Deliver food to guests efficiently and ensure all requests are met
  • Monitor the expo line, run trays of food for dine-in, and assist guests with any questions
  • Clear and sanitize tables, seating, and floors according to restaurant standards
  • Retrieve and transport dirty dishes to the dishwashing station
  • Restock and clean service stations as needed
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as coffee machines, iced tea machines, and POS systems
  • Interact courteously with guests and notify managers of quality or service concerns
  • Follow company policies, dress code, and safety procedures
  • Assist with greeting, seating guests, answering phones, and packaging takeout orders when necessary
  • Support with beverage preparation and responsible alcohol service when required
