The role of Back Waiter at Sunda New Asian in Nashville is crucial to the seamless operation of the dining room and overall guest satisfaction. Back Waiters are responsible for various essential tasks that support the front-of-house team, primarily assisting servers and ensuring tables are properly set and maintained. This position demands a balance of efficiency, attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills. The Back Waiter is tasked with setting tables with correct spacing and settings, clearing and resetting tables rapidly, and communicating proactively with servers to anticipate and meet guests' needs. They assist with table maintenance duties such as changing plates, folding napkins, presetting glassware, pouring soy sauce, refreshing silverware, and performing water service, all while maintaining a clean and organized service station.

Moreover, Back Waiters at Sunda are expected to uphold high standards of cleanliness in the dining area by checking tables and chairs and ensuring the general area is free of debris, spills, and grease. They assist servers with packaging leftover food per guest requests and perform any additional duties assigned by management. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Previous restaurant experience preferred
  • Must complete Food Handlers and BASSET certificate
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods
  • Must be able to lift, balance, and carry trays of food weighing up to 30 pounds

Job Duties

  • Clears and resets tables as quickly as possible with correct spacing and settings
  • Communicate with servers to ensure guest's needs are accommodated
  • Checks for table setting completeness
  • Assists the server in table maintenance duties such as plate changes, napkin folding, presetting glassware, pouring soy sauce, refreshing silverware, wiping and crumbing tables, water service
  • Checks general dining area, tables, and chairs for cleanliness
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of service stations and service areas
  • Picks up debris and cleans any spills or grease on the floor
  • Assists server in packing up any leftovers from guests according to guest requests
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by management
