Job Description
This job opportunity is with a prominent establishment recognized for its dedication to culinary excellence and outstanding hospitality within the food service industry. The company operates corporate-owned restaurants where the focus is on delivering exceptional dining experiences through high-quality food preparation and attentive service. The working environment is dynamic and fast-paced, catering to a variety of guests and events with a commitment to maintaining top standards in food safety and operational efficiency.
The role available is that of a Back of House (BOH) Line Cook/Prep Cook, which is a critical position within the kitchen team responsible for ensuring all food production meets the highest standards of quality, presentation, and taste. This position reports directly to the Manager on Duty, Culinary Manager, and Corporate Operations or Culinary Leader, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and communication within the management structure. While the role does not oversee any direct reports or supervisory duties, it demands a high level of autonomy and responsibility for delivering culinary excellence.
The BOH Line Cook/Prep Cook must be adept at managing various kitchen tasks including cooking according to recipe guidelines, food preparation, inventory management, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the kitchen environment. The position also plays a key role in supporting special events and ensuring kitchen equipment and tools are used properly and maintained to standard. Physical demands of the job include prolonged periods of standing, walking, and assisting in food production or service during peak operational times. The work environment can be challenging, involving exposure to heat and potentially slippery conditions typical of a busy restaurant kitchen, thus necessitating appropriate attire and footwear for safety.
The company offers a competitive compensation package that includes benefits such as paid medical insurance for full-time employees, sick leave compliant with local regulations, commuter benefits, free shift meals, maternity/paternity leave, and discounted meals across all corporate-owned restaurants. These benefits underscore the company’s commitment to employee well-being and work-life balance.
This role is suited for individuals with at least one year of experience cooking in a restaurant kitchen and who have demonstrated excellence in culinary skills and food service hospitality. The ability to succeed in this role also depends on knowledge of OSHA and EEOC regulations, food safety procedures, and preferably some familiarity with point-of-sale systems. A valid Food Safety or Food Handler certification is required. Strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities in English, both oral and written, and a basic proficiency in math are essential to perform the job successfully.
Additionally, candidates must be prepared to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and evenings. The role expects employees to handle high-pressure situations and multitask efficiently while valuing diversity, respecting the community, and maintaining a positive attitude towards guests and team members alike. The BOH Line Cook/Prep Cook position is a vital contributor to the overall success of the restaurant by ensuring the delivery of high-quality food and a memorable dining experience for all guests. The company values employees who can identify opportunities for improvement, implement corrective actions promptly, and consistently adhere to company policies and procedures as established by leadership.
