The Station Cook I role at Murrieta Hot Springs Resort is integral to the culinary team. This full-time position involves planning, prepping, setting up, and providing quality service in all areas of food production across the resort’s designated outlets. The cook will be essential in ensuring that all menu items and daily specials meet the resort's standards and plating guide specifications. With an hourly rate ranging from $18.00 to $21.00, depending on experience, this position offers an opportunity for culinary professionals looking to grow in a supportive and well-equipped environment.

The Station Cook I will also be tasked with directing, training, and monitoring the performance of Line Cooks, promoting a collaborative and efficient kitchen atmosphere. Attention to detail will be paramount as the individual maintains the organization, cleanliness, and sanitation of work areas and equipment. Responsibilities include meticulous preparation according to recipes and yield guides, setting up workstations with all necessary items, conducting closing duties, and ensuring compliance with health department and hotel storage standards.

Knowledge of food handling procedures, the ability to work across all stations on the line, and maintaining composure under pressure are crucial in this role. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent communication skills and the capability to maintain confidentiality with both staff and guests. The role demands physical stamina and flexibility, including standing for extended periods, working in varying temperature conditions, and carrying up to 50 pounds. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous culinary or kitchen experience preferred
  • food handling certification required
  • ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • ability to work varying shifts including weekends and holidays
  • successful background check and verification of work authorization
  • willingness to adhere to health and safety regulations
  • ability to perform repetitive motions and physical tasks required in kitchen environment

Job Duties

  • Prepare all menu items following recipes and yield guides
  • set up work station with required mise en place, tools, equipment and supplies
  • breakdown work stations and complete closing duties at the end of last shift of the day
  • inspect the cleanliness and working conditions of all tools, equipment and supplies
  • inform the Sous Chef of any supplies that need to be requisitioned for the day's tasks
  • transport supplies from the Storeroom and stock in designated areas
  • start prep work on items needed for the particular menu of the day
  • check POS printers on the line
  • ensure they are in working order and there is enough paper available for the shift
  • maintain proper storage procedures as specified by Health Department and hotel requirements
  • follow all food handling guidelines
  • perform other duties as assigned
