Job Requirements

  • US citizenship required
  • Selective service registration for males born after 12/31/1959
  • Submission of SF50 form
  • Physically able to perform duties safely
  • Good distant vision with or without correction
  • Ability to hear conversational voice with or without hearing aid
  • No physical condition that poses hazard to self or others
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of specialized experience at FG-12 or FV-H level
  • Must meet medical standards or provide physician certification
  • Pass background investigation
  • May be subject to one-year probationary period
  • Ability to comply with FAA financial disclosure requirements

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid state driver’s license
  • Fluency in English
  • No chemical dependencies or drug abuse issues
  • Not more than two federal aviation regulations violations in the past five years
  • Ability to perform investigations and provide expert technical advice
  • Experience in evaluating operational control and dispatch facilities
  • Experience in conducting surveillance and certification activities
  • Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate
  • Specialized experience equivalent to FG-12 or FV-H level
  • Ability to provide testimony and legal assistance

Job Duties

  • Ensure dispatch centers and training facilities are adequately organized and staffed with qualified personnel
  • Serve as technical advisor on policies and procedures to principal operations inspectors
  • Conduct investigations of complaints, inquiries, incidents, and accidents related to operational control
  • Prepare enforcement reports and recommendations including suspension of airmen certificates
  • Provide technical assistance to legal counsel and testify in court trials and hearings
  • Coordinate surveillance and certification activities across district offices
  • Manage and conduct initial and annual training for designated aircraft dispatcher examiners
  • Participate in certification of new part 121 applicants and part 65 dispatch courses
  • Review and approve or recommend disapproval of manuals and training programs
  • Evaluate operational control and dispatch facilities and recommend policy changes
  • Develop and implement work programs for surveillance of dispatch operations and training
  • Monitor training programs and conduct evaluations of dispatch instructors and examiners
  • Ensure standardization of air transportation supervisors and dispatcher examiners
