The role of Public Services Assistant/Dishwasher at Meriwether Godsey is a full-time position with hours from 6:30 am to 2:30 pm. This role is essential in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the dining and kitchen areas, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all who use the facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating dishwashing equipment, cleaning various kitchen items like plates, trays, cutlery, glassware, pots, and pans, and supporting the set-up and upkeep of cafeteria areas. An important part of this role includes managing the sanitation of kitchen and dining spaces by sweeping, mopping floors, and waste removal.
In addition to the physical cleaning tasks, the Dishwasher will be expected to assist with receiving and storing food products and aid in food preparation procedures that comply with food safety standards. This position requires strong attention to detail to monitor dishwasher temperatures and the overall equipment function to prevent any hazards. Job Requirements
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required (exemptions available upon request)
- Ability to pass FBI background check and tuberculosis test
- Previous dishwashing experience preferred
- Strong work ethic in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to shift between tasks and responsibilities
- Reliability and willingness to work in a warm, humid environment
- Ability to stand or move for extended periods and lift 25 pounds
- Ability to follow company safety and sanitation procedures
- Good communication skills and a great attitude
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior experience in dishwashing preferred (1 year)
- Strong work ethic in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to switch between tasks and responsibilities as needed
- Ability to stand or move for long periods and lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to comply with company safety and sanitation procedures
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude
Job Duties
- Set up and operate the dishwasher to clean and sanitize dishes, trays, cutlery, glassware, pots, and pans
- scrape, sort, and organize items
- Record dishwasher temperatures and immediately report low temperatures or machine malfunctions
- Transport related supplies and assist in cafeteria area setup
- Clean cafeteria areas during and after meals and restock them to ensure uninterrupted service
- Set up and use a three-compartment sink to clean and sanitize pots and pans
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and cafeteria areas, including sweeping, mopping floors, and waste removal
- Assist with receiving and storing food products and food preparation following proper food handling procedures to ensure food safety
- Perform all tasks in accordance with best food safety and sanitation practices
- Other assigned duties
