Job Description

Speedway Motors is the oldest speed shop in the USA and one of the largest in the nation, recognized for over 70 years as a trusted source for specialty rodding, racing products, and expert automotive advice. Founded as a family business, it has grown impressively from a one-man operation into a vertically integrated manufacturer, distributor, and multi-channel retailer of automotive parts and accessories. The company is deeply committed to its core values: acting as One Team across all departments, choosing positivity in every endeavor, putting people first, empowering employees with a voice, and staying driven to succeed. These principles create a supportive, collaborative, and dynamic environment where passion for hot rods, muscle cars, and racing unites the team.

The Retail Store Associate role at Speedway Motors invites automotive enthusiasts who are passionate about hot rods, muscle cars, or racing to join their team and assist customers in achieving their automotive dreams. This position is focused on delivering exceptional customer service by providing knowledgeable product guidance and support, efficient order processing, handling inventory, and assisting with light product repairs in a team-oriented and values-driven setting. Employees in this role engage directly with thousands of customers who share a love for cars, helping them build meaningful experiences they'll remember forever.

The Retail Store Associate is responsible for answering product and service questions both in-person and over the phone, recommending appropriate parts, upselling complementary items based on customer needs, and accurately processing orders, payments, refunds, and returns. This includes retrieving products from the warehouse, preparing invoices, and ensuring timely delivery of items. Additionally, the role requires managing loan tickets, resolving customer concerns by researching and following up on inquiries, and collaborating with the Quality Control team to inspect returned products and restock them correctly.

Supporting operational efficiency, Retail Store Associates employ material-handling equipment such as pallet jacks, tuggers, bicycles, and forklifts (if certified). They also assist with light product repairs, labeling, and stamping as needed. The role encourages employees to take ownership of responsibilities, embrace Speedway Motors' core values, adapt to shifting priorities, and seek continuous improvement and professional development.

Working at Speedway Motors includes a comprehensive benefits package that supports employees’ well-being, including health, dental, and vision insurance; retirement plans with company match; paid time off and holidays; continuing education reimbursements and wellness programs; and discounts on products and property rentals. The company fosters a family-rooted culture with strong growth opportunities and an extremely supportive team environment.

The work environment for this role is a mix of retail, office, and warehouse settings with moderate exposure to noise and hazards. Associates should be able to operate powered equipment safely, perform physical duties such as lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, and conduct fine motor tasks related to product handling and computer use. This position requires a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of customer service experience, strong communication skills in English, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Candidates with exposure to automotive products or industries, technical aptitude, and a passion for learning are highly preferred.

By joining Speedway Motors, employees become part of a legacy dedicated to car culture and community, where their expertise and enthusiasm help customers realize their automotive projects and dreams. This opportunity is ideal for those who want to combine their love of cars with a rewarding retail career in a company that values innovation, teamwork, and personal growth.
