Job Description
Gerber Collision & Glass is a leading provider in the collision repair and glass services industry, boasting an impressive legacy of over 80 years of delivering high-quality customer experiences. As a part of The Boyd Group, a company committed to building elite teams with intent and driven by individual and collective success, Gerber Collision & Glass emphasizes integrity, diversity, and inclusion in its hiring practices. The company welcomes unique talents from all backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities and Protected Veterans, underscoring its dedication to creating an exceptional and supportive work environment. Gerber Collision & Glass spearheads innovation and excellence in collision and glass repair services, making it a premier choice for customers and employees alike. It places strong emphasis on creating an infrastructure and culture that support professional growth and outstanding performance at every touchpoint within the organization, empowering employees to advance their careers and achieve excellence.
The position of Porter at Gerber Collision & Glass plays a vital role in enhancing the overall customer experience by ensuring that vehicles are immaculately cleaned and prepared for delivery. The Porter position is essential to maintaining the cleanliness of both customer vehicles and the facility itself, including the office, production areas, and surrounding grounds. The role goes beyond routine cleaning; it involves pre-washing vehicles before repairs begin, performing exterior and interior cleanup post-repair, and transporting vehicles to sublet locations as needed. This ensures a smooth and efficient workflow within the service shop, supporting the highest standards of operational excellence. The Porter directly contributes to the company's WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan by consistently executing daily housekeeping tasks such as emptying waste cans, sweeping floors, dusting, organizing tools, and maintaining parking lots in neat condition, including snow removal when necessary.
This position requires a keen attention to detail and a strong work ethic, with responsibilities that include handling physical labor such as lifting, pushing, and carrying items up to 50 pounds and operating motor vehicles safely. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid driver’s license, and ideally have some automotive experience, though the role provides learning opportunities for motivated individuals. The Porter must also demonstrate trustworthy and reliable behavior, a positive attitude, and excellent customer service skills. The company values its employees' wellbeing and success, offering a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance from day one, paid time off, paid parental leave, and retirement plans with company matching. Compensation for the Porter role ranges from $16 to $22 per hour, commensurate with skill, education, and experience.
Working at Gerber Collision & Glass means joining a team dedicated to excellence, growth, and a customer-focused mission that has stood strong for more than eight decades. The company fosters an inclusive environment where integrity, respect, and diversity thrive, helping every team member to succeed and contribute meaningfully to the overall goals of the organization. If you are someone who thrives on detail-oriented tasks, enjoys physical activity, seeks career growth in a supportive team atmosphere, and wants to be part of a renowned industry leader, the Porter position at Gerber Collision & Glass offers an excellent opportunity to grow and excel.
