Job Description
Gerber Collision & Glass is one of the largest and most respected collision repair companies in North America, boasting over $3 billion in sales and more than 1000 locations across the United States and Canada. With a dedicated team of over 10,000 employees, Gerber Collision & Glass is committed to delivering exceptional customer service focused on their goal to WOW Every Customer and Be the Best. This company’s expansive presence and reputation make it a leading choice for both customers seeking high-quality collision repair and individuals looking to grow a rewarding career in the automotive repair industry.
Gerber Collision & Glass offers a supportive and dynamic work environment where team members are valued for their unique talents and contributions. The company fosters an inclusive workplace and actively encourages all qualified individuals, including those with disabilities and protected veterans, to apply. With a focus on career growth and personal development, Gerber provides numerous opportunities for employees to advance within the company as it continues to expand. Employees benefit from a comprehensive range of benefits and competitive pay, reflecting their commitment to team member success.
This particular role is for a Porter, a vital position within the Gerber Collision & Glass team that supports quality repair work by ensuring vehicles and facilities are maintained to the highest standards. The Porter is primarily responsible for cleaning customer vehicles before and after repairs, maintaining the neatness and appearance of both shop and office environments, and assisting with vehicle transportation. This is an hourly position with pay ranging from $17 to $21 per hour, commensurate with skill, education, and experience.
Key responsibilities include executing the WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan consistently, managing daily housekeeping tasks such as emptying garbage cans, cleaning floors, and dusting in the office and production areas, maintaining parking lots and grounds, including snow removal as needed, and pre-washing vehicles before repairs. Porters also handle the exterior and interior cleanup of vehicles after repairs, transport vehicles to sublet locations for further work, and ensure tools and equipment are properly stored.
This role requires a detail-oriented approach and a positive, customer-focused attitude. Candidates should be at least 18 years old, hold a valid driver's license, and possess strong attention to detail. Physical demands of the job include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, operate motor vehicles safely, and perform tasks involving walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Prior automotive experience and a high school diploma or GED are preferred, though the company offers training and development opportunities for motivated individuals. If you are dependable, willing to learn, and want to be part of a company that values your contributions and invests in your career growth, Gerber Collision & Glass is an excellent place to launch or further your career.
