Job Description
Grease Monkey International, LLC, established in 1978 and headquartered in Denver, Colorado, is a prominent leader in the automotive service industry. With more than 300 locations operating internationally across Mexico, China, Colombia, and Saudi Arabia, Grease Monkey stands as the nation’s largest independent franchisor of automotive oil change centers. Serving over 2 million customers annually, the company is dedicated to delivering quick, reliable, and highly professional vehicle maintenance services. The brand continues to grow rapidly and has plans for expansion, aiming to open more than 30 new centers in 2021, strengthening its footprint in the automotive service market.
This position is for a Hood Technician in one of Grease Monkey’s independently owned and operated franchise locations. The Hood Technician plays a critical role in ensuring a high-quality and efficient full-service oil change experience. This role demands a keen attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and customer service skills as the technician performs all necessary services under the vehicle's hood during the oil change process. In addition, the Hood Technician oversees activities in the bay area to ensure all services are completed comprehensively and accurately recorded on work orders.
The job duties include performing fluid checks and fills for automatic transmission fluid, power steering fluid, windshield washer fluid, coolant, and battery electrolyte. The technician also replaces emissions components such as oil filters, air filters, cabin air filters, and radiator caps, performing visual inspections of belts, hoses, and other under-the-hood components. Safety and quality checks are essential to deliver a worry-free experience to customers. The position requires the individual to use the proprietary Echo System to access vehicle information essential for service accuracy.
Beyond technical responsibilities, the Hood Technician contributes to general center maintenance, including cleaning the work area, mopping, lawn mowing, clearing litter, and ensuring the facility is clean and welcoming for customers. Crew members attend regular meetings and perform errands or additional duties as assigned by supervisors, playing a key part in the day-to-day operations of the location.
The compensation package for this role ranges from $15.00 to $17.00 per hour, paired with a flexible schedule to fit different lifestyles. The company offers valuable benefits such as performance-based bonuses, competitive salaries, training and development opportunities, discounted services for employees, and chances for career advancements. Working at Grease Monkey provides employees with a supportive environment to grow their skills and succeed in the automotive trade industry.
This employment opportunity represents a chance to join a reputable company well-established in the automotive maintenance market with international recognition. The role fits individuals who have hands-on experience or training as a hood technician, good verbal communication skills, basic literacy in reading, writing, and math, as well as the ability to operate motor vehicles and mechanical hand tools safely. Physical stamina and resilience are also important due to the nature of the work requiring frequent standing, walking, lifting, and exposure to various weather elements and vehicle fluids.
Joining the Grease Monkey team means being part of a network devoted to excellent customer service delivered with speed and precision. The company culture encourages safety, team cooperation, and continuous learning through its proprietary training and certification program. This ensures that every technician is highly skilled and prepared to meet the customers’ automotive service needs. For candidates eager to grow in the automotive industry, this opportunity offers a solid foundation in vehicle service with the backing of a trusted and expanding brand.
